Q: Why is soccer tennis such a popular training game?
A: Several reasons:
— It’s FUN!
— It’s competitive!
— It’s challenging!
— It dramatically improves “first-touch”!
—
It’s a game!”
Q: Is soccer tennis too difficult for my players?
A: While soccer tennis is very challenging, it is not too difficult
for any player who wants to improve their skills. We realize that
all soccer players have different skill levels. That is why we
designed the soccer-tennis trainer™ to be adjustable in height and width.
The lowest height (about 2 feet) is perfect for the beginner. As
players get better, the bar can be raised to provide additional challenges.
You can also adjust the number of touches so that all players experience
success while playing.
Q: At what age do you recommend playing soccer tennis?
A:
Before we answer this question, please note that the soccer-tennis
trainer™ converts to a small-sided goal that is useful
for any age. To play soccer tennis, however, players need to have
some
basic soccer skills – otherwise they will get frustrated. We
generally recommend starting to play soccer tennis between the ages
of 8 to 10, depending on the skills of the player. We see some 7
to 8-year olds who are already quite good at soccer tennis, but these
players are very skilled for their age. If a player can juggle 10
or more times, they are definitely ready for soccer tennis. Additionally,
all players who are 10 years or older and want to be good soccer
players need to be working on their “touches”. While
juggling is good practice, it gets boring after a few minutes.
Soccer tennis develops more skills and provides years of enjoyment
because
it is FUN.
Q: I am a goalkeeper. Is soccer tennis useful for me?
A: Definitely yes! As a goalkeeper, are you allowed to pick the
ball up with your hands when one of your players kicks it to you?
No. Have you ever received a pass back from one of your players that
is bouncing and difficult to handle? Most likely yes. Is there anything
more embarrassing than shanking or even missing the ball completely?
Not on the soccer field. All great goalkeepers need good foot skills,
and soccer tennis will help you develop those skills.
Q: Did you invent the game soccer tennis?
A: No. Soccer tennis has been played for many years, especially in
Europe. We invented a compact and portable training tool to be used
for soccer tennis. Our product is called soccer-tennis trainer™.
Q: Do you use a net when playing soccer tennis?
A: No. The telescoping extension poles serve the purpose of the “net”.
We have been playing soccer tennis for many years, and there have
been almost no disputes over whether the ball went over or under
the bar. This is because the soccer ball is quite large (i.e. compared
to a tennis ball) and it is easy to tell if the ball went over the
bar. If you have ever played tennis, you know that one of the most
annoying things about tennis is having to retrieve balls from the
net. Our use of a bar eliminates the need to walk to the net to retrieve
balls.
Q:
Does the small-sided goal come with the
soccer-tennis trainer™
or
must I purchase it separately?
A: We offer two purchase options:
- soccer-tennis trainer™ without the net for the small-sided goal and
- soccer-tennis trainer™ with the net for the small-sided goal
Our revolutionary (patent pending) design allows for quick conversion from soccer tennis to a small-sided goal. The conversion only takes about 1 – 2 minutes. The net lets players experience the “high” of hitting the back of the net when scoring a goal.
Q: How big is the goal?
A: About 5 feet wide and 2 feet tall. We designed our goal
to encourage players to keep the ball low while shooting.
Q: Is the carrying case included?
A: Yes. The carrying case is about 5 feet long and 10 inches wide
when lying flat. The shoulder strap makes it easy to carry, and it
fits easily in your car, van or SUV.
Q:
How durable is the soccer-tennis trainer™?
A: All soccer-tennis trainers™ are made of UV-treated fiberglass,
not PVC! We selected fiberglass for extra durability and strength.
Q: What size ball is best for playing soccer tennis?
A: Any ball is good. However, to challenge yourself, try playing
with a size 4 or even size 3 ball.
Q: What are the rules?
A: Click here for the rules that are easily printed from our web
site.
Q: What is the court size?
A: We recommend a court size of 8 feet wide by 8 – 10 feet
deep on each side. However, the court size may be adjusted based
on the space available and the number of players. You can also attach
two units together to increase the width up to 16 feet. This is great
for 2 vs. 2, 3 vs. 3…
Q: What do you use for court lines?
A: Since the soccer-tennis trainer™ can be used on any surface,
we use many different types of lines. While playing on grass, we
recommend using chalk or setting up cones or discs in the corners.
While playing indoors (i.e. gym floor), we recommend using tape.
While playing on driveways or parking lots, we recommend using sidewalk
chalk. We include 2 pieces of sidewalk chalk and 4 discs with all purchases.
Q: Do you have any good ideas on how we can use the
soccer-tennis trainer™ in
our practices?
A: Yes. Click here for practice ideas that are easily printed from
our web site.
